After I returned to the business in my twenties, I used to be the business misfit. I might stroll into conferences in my denims and t-shirts, everybody else in fits and Rolexes. And on the time, all diamond buying and selling was based mostly purely on numbers and stats – you hardly ever even appeared on the stones. These impersonal interactions took a whole lot of the magic out of it for me.
Then I moved to Vancouver and shifted gears – I targeted on working with independents and artists who, like me, have been passionate concerning the business and the diamonds themselves. We actually related over cool new stones, we gushed, we mentioned – it actually introduced the enjoyment and magic again to diamonds for me.
What’s your private favourite diamond coloration, reduce, and form?
I’ve all the time beloved marquis reduce, so I actually love movals – it’s a slender, elongated oval crossed with a marquis.
Additionally, fancy gray diamonds (naturally gray coloured diamonds), and fancy white diamonds (opaque white coloured diamonds – nearly milky wanting) will certainly have me gushing hyperbolic and waxing poetic.
What’s your favourite a part of your job?
I like seeing my diamonds was beautiful full items. And now with Instagram, I usually hear immediately from the tip purchasers which is wonderful. They put up their new jewels and ship messages saying how a lot they love their new piece.
